A comprehensive five-volume, 20-book anthology entitled The Musical Tradition of the Eastern European Synagogue, which documents, explains, and illustrates this music is well underway.

Volume One, subtitled Introduction: History and Definition, was published by Syracuse University Press in 2002. Volume Two, subtitled The Weekday Services, was published by Syracuse University Press in 2005. Both are available at syracuseuniversitypress.syr.edu or at www.amazon.com. The third volume, subtitled The Sabbath Services, and Volumes Four and Five, subtitled The Festival Services and The High Holiday Services, respectively, are currently in progress.
